About GATE 2019 Engineering Entrance Exam

GATE 2019 will be organized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in online mode on February 2, 3, 9 and 10, 2019. A new paper “Statistics” has been added this year, taking the total number of papers for which GATE 2019 will be conducted to 24; in the last edition of the exam there were 23 papers. The candidate though will be able to appear for one paper only, preferably in a paper related to the candidate’s qualifying degree; that being said, the candidate is free to choose any of the 24 papers.

GATE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years after 10+2, or 3 years after Diploma) in the related engineering and science stream
  • Master’s Degree in any branch of Mathematics/Science/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent degree.
  • International applicants possessing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in the related engineering or science stream.
  • Students in final year of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree.
  • There is no stipulated age limit criterion defined for GATE applicants.

GATE Exam Pattern 2019

  • Exam Date: February 2 – 3 and February 09 – 10, 2019 Every eligible candidate can apply for one stream of all the 24 papers for which GATE 2019 is conducted.
  • GATE 2019 Exam Pattern might seem a little confusing at first as it varies for different disciplines.
  • GATE is an online mode examination with 65 questions to be solved in 3 hours. The total weightage of the GATE Exam is 100 marks.

There will be two types of questions Objective type and Numerical Type (NAT). In NAT question, there will be no choices. The answer is to be entered manually with the help of Virtual Calculator.
XE paper will have a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. With this, there will be eight sections (A-H) in XE paper.

GATE Application Form 2019

Registered candidates could submit the application form of GATE 2019 till October 3, 2018. GATE 2019 application form without late fee was available till September 23 and with late fee till October 1, 2018. The application form was released on August 31, 2018. The entire registration process had to be done through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The facility of correction in GATE 2019 application form is now available. If a candidate failed to submit the application form by then, then he/she will not be allowed to attempt the examination.

The given steps could be followed by the candidates to fill and submit the application form of GATE 2019

  • Step 1 –Registration: Firstly, the candidates had to register for GATE 2019 through GOAP. Name, valid email ID and mobile number had to be submitted. After registration, an enrollment number was generated. A password also had to be created by the candidates for future login purposes.
  • Step 2 – Filling of Application Form: Next, the candidates had to submit their personal, academic, contact, college and valid photo id details. Selection of GATE paper and exam centres also had to be done.
  • Step 3 – Uploading of Images: Scanned images of the candidates’ photograph, signature and category certificate (if applicable) had to be uploaded according to the specifications mentioned by the authorities.
  • Step 4 – Payment of Application Fees: The payment had to be done through online mode i.e., net banking/debit card/credit card.
  • Step 5 – Submission of Application Form: Finally, the candidates had to submit their filled application form.

GATE 2019 Admit Card

  • Availability of GATE 2019 Admit Card: January 4, 2019 To download GATE 2019 Admit Card, visit http://gate.iitm.ac.in/. One must print multiple copies of admit card for GATE 2019 to avoid discrepancies on the exam day.
  • Admit Card carries candidate’s name, location of the exam center, photograph, and signature of candidate.
  • It is mandatory to verify the given information before downloading GATE Admit card In case of any discrepancy, immediately report the conducting authority i.e. IIT Madras.

  • Click on the GATE 2019 Admit Card Link
  • Enter the Registration Number and Password
  • Candidate’s admit card will display on screen

GATE Result 2019

IIT Madras will be releasing the result of GATE 2019 on March 16. To download the GATE 2019 result, the candidates will have to submit their enrollment id/ email id, registration number and date of birth. All of the details such as the scores and ranks secured by the candidates will be present in the GATE result 2019. The candidates who secure scores equal to more than the cutoff will be able to download their score card.

Steps to Download GATE 2019 Result?

  • Enrollment id, registration number and date of birth will have to be provided by the candidates.
  • Click on “Submit”
  • After submitting the details, the result will be displayed on the screen.
  • Qualified candidates will be able to download their score card.
