It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions. This deemed-to-be university is recognized by MHRD and accredited by NAAC with A Grade. The University has been focusing more on teaching, research and service, from its inception.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS in JSS University Mysore.
- Admission to the program is given through NEET-UG.
- Candidate to score a minimum of 50% aggregate in NEET to become eligible for admission to MBBS programs.
- Interested students must have passed class 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination may also apply.
As per the Indian Medical Council Act – 1956, as amended in 2016 & Dentist Act – 1984 as amended in 2016, online applications are invited for NEET UG – 2026.
The exam will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission MBBS/BDS Courses in India approved by Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
AIMS & JIPMER Pondicherry are only two exceptions from NEET UG, as they are established through the Act of Parliament of India.
Admission to all seats of MBBS/BDS courses will be done through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2026.
